Sweetbriar Highlights:

  • Samuel Breck built Sweetbriar Mansion in 1797
  • Samuel Breck knew many leading figures of the time, including Marquis de Lafayette and Joseph Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon
  • Sweetbriar was built in Federal style with influences of Georgian symmetry
  • Sweetbriar is open for tours between July 1st and December 15th

The Modern Club of Philadelphia, in cooperation with the Fairmount Park Commission and The Philadelphia Museum of Art, has been able to provide funds and interest needed for the preservation and protection of Sweetbriar Mansion.

The Modern Club relies on donations to sustain Sweetbriar Mansion. In order to expand our horizons, we have created these categories for giving:

  • Friends Of Sweetbriar. $20 per year. You are invited to monthly luncheons September to May, 2008.
  • Contributing Supporters Of Sweetbriar. Donations of any denomination are welcome. Benefits to be announced.
  • Corporate Sponsors Of Sweetbriar. Donations of any denomination. Benefits to be announced.
